Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Clipmesh collects, why we collect it, how we look after it, and the rights you have over it. Clipmesh is a local-first product — most of your creative work never leaves your computer.

01Who we are

Clipmesh(“we”, “us”, “our”) provides the Clipmesh AI video studio — a desktop application and the accompanying website at clipmesh.ai. Our contact address is 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3AX, United Kingdom, and you can reach us at fahim@clipmesh.ai.

We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

02What we collect

We keep data collection to what the service actually needs to run:

  • Account details — your name, email address and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email and profile picture from Google.
  • Billing details — your subscription tier, credit balance, purchase history and renewal dates. Card numbers are handled entirely by our payment providers; we never see or store them.
  • Project data you choose to sync — project names, timeline structure, and any footage you upload to your cloud Footage Library.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser and device type, and pages visited, used to keep the service secure and to understand which features get used.
  • Support messages — anything you send us by email or through our contact form.

03What stays on your machine

Clipmesh renders video, generates local AI voiceovers and transcribes audio on your own computer. Media files you drop into the editor, the frames we render, and the finished exports are written to your local disk and are not uploaded to us. The exception is content you explicitly send to the cloud — footage you upload to your Footage Library, or a project you choose to save to your account.

04Why we use your data

  • To create and run your account, and to authenticate you (performance of a contract).
  • To take payment, grant credits and storage, and manage renewals (performance of a contract).
  • To provide AI features you trigger — sending your prompt, script or audio to the AI provider needed to fulfil that request (performance of a contract).
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix faults (legitimate interests).
  • To understand product usage and improve Clipmesh (legitimate interests, or your consent where analytics cookies are used).
  • To send service emails such as receipts, password resets and important account notices (performance of a contract).

05Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers needed to operate Clipmesh, and only to the extent they need it:

  • Payment providers (Stripe, bKash) — to process purchases and subscriptions.
  • Hosting & storage providers — to run our API, database and file storage.
  • AI providers — when you use a cloud AI feature, the content of that request is sent to the relevant provider to generate the result. If you bring your own API key or use a local model instead, your request goes to that destination rather than through us.
  • Analytics providers — to measure aggregate site and product usage.
  • Authorities or advisers, where we are legally required to disclose information.

06International transfers

Some of our providers are based outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where personal data is transferred abroad, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses to keep your data protected to the same standard.

07How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account is open. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data and synced project content within 30 days — except where we need to keep records longer to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations. Billing records are typically retained for six years.

08How we protect it

Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. Traffic between the app and our API is encrypted in transit, API keys you save are stored server-side and never returned to the browser, and access to production systems is restricted to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take these safeguards seriously and review them as the product grows.

09Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us to:

  • Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Delete your data, where we have no overriding reason to keep it.
  • Restrict or object to how we use it.
  • Port your data to another provider in a machine-readable form.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where our use is based on consent.

Email fahim@clipmesh.aito exercise any of these. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local supervisory authority.

10Cookies

Our website uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and — with your consent — analytics and advertising cookies to understand how the site is used. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie banner or your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop you from signing in.

11Children

Clipmesh is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product changes. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version, and we will tell you about significant changes by email or in the app. Continuing to use Clipmesh after a change means you accept the updated policy. See also our Terms & Conditions and Refund Policy.
